Ford Motor Company is attempting to take as much of the hassle out of getting your car serviced by introducing automatic kiosks with 24/7 service.
As companies continue to focus more and more on automating their services, the Ford Motor Company is now introducing a way to make routine car maintenance more convenient for its customers.
Ford is beginning to introduce 24/7 Smart Service Kiosks at some of their car dealerships. The concept is pretty simple. Customers arrive at the kiosk, scan their driver’s license and drop off their keys. Once the car is done, they get an email alert and a QR code to scan once they get back at the kiosk to retrieve their keys and vehicle.
The services you can get at these kiosks range from oil changes and inspections to suspension and transmission maintenance. Ford even put together a YouTube video showing off the new kiosk idea, which you can check out below.
The idea is definitely an interesting one, and can make the entire situation of getting your car maintenance that much easier. In the video above, one customer talked about how easy it was to drop off his car the night before when the dealership was closed because he had to work in the morning the next day.
Currently, the service and the smart kiosks are undergoing a 90-day trial at a local dealership in Birch Run, Michigan. However, assuming more consumers are fans of the smart kiosks, you can feel pretty confident that they will start popping up around the country sooner rather than later.
