John Ross won’t get an island from Adidas after breaking 40-yard dash record

Despite breaking the 40-yard dash record at the NFL Scouting Combine, former Washington Huskies receiver John Ross won’t be getting an island from Adidas.

Former Washington Huskies wide receiver John Ross turned the heads of NFL scouts in Indianapolis during the NFL Scouting Combine after posting a record-breaking 40-yard dash of 4.22 seconds. Unfortunately for Ross, he won’t be getting an island from Adidas.

Adidas announced before the Combine that if someone broke Chris Johnson’s record in the 40-yard dash, they’d give them their own island. However, there were a ton of stipulations, including that the record-breaker needed to wear Adidas shoes during the event.

Instead, Ross rocked some Nike cleats for the event, which means that he won’t be getting his own island. That’s probably not too big of a deal for a player who could be a potential first-round pick and will be making millions in the NFL.

Ross actually gave a hilarious answer as to why he didn’t want to win an island, citing that he wasn’t a good swimmer and that he didn’t own a boat.

Even if Ross had worn Adidas, there was still a pretty good chance that he wouldn’t have even gotten an island since the legal stipulations listed were pretty ridiculous. The entire publicity move from Adidas actually seemed to backfire a bit, and it’s something that Nike might be able to take advantage of with Ross.

So maybe no one will be getting a private island, but at least we can enjoy the fact that Chris Johnson’s 40-yard dash record has finally been broken. The only question now is when will the record be broken again?
