Amazon to Release Jack Ryan Series Staring John Krasinski

The Office star John Krasinski will be the next actor to play Jack Ryan in an upcoming Amazon original series.

Jack Ryan has become one of the most popular action movie characters of the past couple of decades, with a number of big actors playing the role. Now, an unexpected new face will be taking over as Ryan.

John Krasinksi, the man known best for his role as Jim Halpert in The Office, will be starring as Jack Ryan in an upcoming Amazon original series. The series will be 10 episodes and will be the first time that Jack Ryan has appeared in an adaptation that wasn’t a movie.

The former Office star joins the likes of Harrison Ford, Chris Pine, Ben Affleck and Alec Baldwin as actors who have played Ryan. While originally thought of as an actor who just plays the nice guy, Krasinski changed fans’ perceptions of him in a big way with his role in13 Hours.

“We’re excited to add the Jack Ryan global franchise to our robust originals pipeline,” head of Amazon Studios Roy Pricehead said in a statement. “Our customers will enjoy a compelling adaptation of the action-packed spy thriller book series, further raising the bar for the quality level of storytelling that has made Prime Video a leading destination for content.”

The Jack Ryan series will be produced by Carlton Cuse, known best for his work on Lost, as well as Graham Roland. There’s no official premiere date for the series, but fans of the Jack Ryan movies should get excited about this upcoming show.
