Amazon Studios takes home three Academy Awards

Amazon came away a winner at this year’s 89th Academy Awards, winning three Oscars.

At the 2017 Academy Awards Manchester by the Sea won two different Oscars for Amazon Studios. One was won for Actor in a Leading Role, and another for Original Screenplay. The Salesman won Amazon their third Oscar in the Foreign Language Film category.

Casey Affleck was the actor who won for his lead role in Manchester by the Sea, and Kenneth Lonergan for his screenplay writing of the same film. Both films were created by Amazon through their production company Amazon Studios.

Winning three Oscars and being nominated for four more, it’s clear the digital world is making an impact on the traditional media. With so many consumers turning to online platforms to access movies, it’s an exciting time that they are also being recognized for the content they’re producing.

Being recognized at the Academy Awards is a big step for Amazon, and proves that their content stacks up against the work of the big production studios.

Amazon Studios is even recruiting everyday people to submit their ideas for the next big movie. Now an average person has the ability to win an Academy Award through their work with Amazon. Although it may be years before an aspiring writer has their big movie idea picked up, we know that Amazon Studios has the ability to produce award-winning content.
