Amazon’s Alexa Could be Showing Up on PCs

The Amazon voice assistant Alexa could be taking a big step by moving into the PC world in the near future.

Amazon has been known to venture into all kinds of new markets, from student loan plans to e-readers. However, one of the more interesting endeavors could be finding a new home in the near future.

The Amazon voice assistant Alexa could reportedly be coming to personal computers in the near future. According to Ben Fox Rubin and Roger Cheng from CNET, Amazon has reportedly been in talks with Lenovo, one of the biggest PC manufacturers in the world, about using Alexa in their computers and other devices.

Currently, the Alexa assistant software is primarily used in Amazon’s Echo smart speaker, but the company has been vocal in its beliefs that the voice assistant could expand and grow in the coming years.

The voice assistant market has become rather competitive with the likes of Microsoft’s Cortana and Apple’s Siri in the mix. Although original designed as a smartphone assistant, these softwares have expanded into other devices as well. Cortana is now available in Windows 10, while Siri is expected to be available on all Apple products this fall.

The competition for voice assistant software is growing rapidly, so this would be a great move from Amazon to put Alexa into Lenovo computers. While the demand for computers may be dropping, having Alexa in Lenovo PCs could encourage consumers to seek out other products and devices from Amazon, which would be a fantastic move from the online retail giant.
