The world is waiting word as far as what to expect from the next Apple iPhone release. We know that historically the company reveals the latest iPhone in September of every year, but that doesn’t appear to be happening this year.
Or may be it is.
Right now there is massive uncertainty about the release of the iPhone 8, which would commerce the 10th anniversary of the first iPhone release. Rumors are running wild that there are various reasons the release date will not be hit, which has many people fearing we will go a year without an iPhone.
While we might not get the iPhone 8 this year, we will get some form of an updated iPhone. In years past, Apple has simply tweaked the existing model and tossed an ‘S’ at the end of the title to signify it was new. That looks like the backup plan in place should the iPhone 8 not be ready.
MacRumors speculates that Apple will simply release the iPhone 7S and iPhone 7S Plus in September of this year if the iPhone 8 isn’t ready to rollout. The chances that happens seems to be increasing by the day as reports of production issues have plagued this release.
Truthfully, it would be out of character for Apple to skip the ‘S’ incarnation of a given generation model, so going straight from the iPhone 7 to the iPhone 8 would be weird. No one would likely complain about it though, as despite not jumping generations before, Apple users aren’t pleased with this wait for the new iPhone 8.
