What’s the favorite Lego set you’ve ever owned?

We all love Lego, and we all have that one set that we’ll take to the grave with us because it stands out as a favorite.

For many people, Lego is one of the first things that they enjoy as a form of recreation as kids. Whether we know it or not, playing with bricks is something so readily available to us all at a small age that we might not even remember the first time we played with Lego.

Most of us, however, do remember the first set that we fell in love with. We asked the faithful Bricks Are Awesome fans on the Facebook page what their first set they truly fell in love with was, and the answers varied from old school favorites to new classics, and even a few random personal favorites.

JL Ward offered up an oldie but a goodie. The original Space Cruiser (a new favorite of those who have seen The Lego Movie).

There’s also the International Jetport from 1990, which Cindy Shade went to bat for in the comments.

How about the Monorail set from 1987?

Not ever set mentioned was of the vintage variety. Michael Fields mentioned that the Sith Fury-class Interceptor from the 2000s was his favorite set he has ever built.

Blaine admitted that it’s a hard thing to choose one single favorite set, but noted that the Ninjago sets from the 2000s were high on his list.

There were a handful of people on the page who noted the Ninjago set as a personal favorite, which makes it no surprise that Lego is making the sets into a movie.

Something this little debate did was highlight the cross-section of Lego fans. There is still a super lame trope that Lego is just for kids and can’t be enjoyed by adults who take themselves seriously. But Lego love is something that starts at a super young age and follows us through life. Whether it’s original sets from the 70s or it’s new Star Wars sets like the yet-to-be released UCS Millennium Falcon.

Lego is for everyone, and it’s a love that can’t be broken no matter your age or how long you’ve been into Lego. It’s love at first sight and a bond that millions of us share with one another thanks to nothing more than a little (seemingly indestructible) plastic brick.
