Apple could be developing iPhone fingerprint technology that can track your stolen phone — but at what cost to your privacy?

The release o the Apple iPhone 7 is just around the corner, as the new device is expected to be reveled at the fall conference in a few months. But while everyone waits for the new phone, there is the issues of privacy and exclusivity that continues to come up — and collide with one another.

While we al want our privacy, Apple is developing new technology that may invade that in the name of honoring our obsession with the elitist feeling we get by using their products. Theft of Apple products is an issue, mainly because they’re so elite and so expensive on the market.

It’s all relatively unknown, but it’s sounding like the new iPhone 7 could include fingerprinting tech that allows Apple to track who has your phone if it is stolen.

This sounds like both a blessing and a curse. While on the surface it sounds like a really good idea to be able to track your stolen phone by fingerprint — you’re tracking your phone by fingerprint. People didn’t like that the FBI wanted access to Apple’s database to try and catch terrorists, so Lord knows this is going to get pushback.

You can’t blame people for not really being into the idea. While it sounds great in theory, it also sounds like a way of masking more privacy invasion. That’s a major thing that Apple and other tech companies need to be careful about as these devices get more and more engrained into our everyday lives and get packed tighter with our personal information.
