If you’ve been on the fence about purchasing an Apple Watch, there’s something that may finally persuade you to finally buy one. This is especially true if you are a fan of Pokemon or the Pokemon Go mobile app.
According to Julia Alexander from Polygon, iOS software developer Gabriel O’Flaherty-Chan has successfully created a Game Boy emulator for the Apple Watch. The most important part of this news is that the emulator will include access to play the iconic video game Pokemon Yellow.
“One of the big challenges was to find the right balance between framerate and performance,” O’Flaherty-Chan wrote on his personal blog. “As you can see, it’s a bit sluggish and unresponsive, but as a prototype, I think it answers the question of ‘is this possible?’”
Playing the old Game Boy game on an Apple Watch may not be the easiest thing to get used to, but it can be done. Anyone who grew up playing all of the classic Pokemon games, whether on Game Boy or simply with the trading cards, will definitely be tempted to at least give it a try.
With the arrival of Pokemon Go in 2016, the Pokemon brand is exploding once again. There are plenty of Pokemon fans calling for the re-release of all of the old Game Boy games on the iPhone. For now, at least we have an emulator for the Apple Watch to play Pokemon Yellow.
