Drawing tablets have taken the art world by storm. While some still prefer the classic pencil and paper, creating digital art with a tablet makes it easier to spread your work online. Plus, you’ve got all the supplies you’ll need in just a single tablet and stylus.
The Huion Kamvas Pro 16 Graphics Drawing Tablet is one such popular drawing tablet. With its full-laminated screen, anti-glare glass, and 120% sRGB color gamut, the Huion Kamvas Pro 16 has promised to offer an immersive drawing experience. So, does it deliver? In this product review, I’ll give you all the details on this product that you’ve been dying to know.
When it comes to drawing tablets, the visuals are the most important aspect. A drawing tablet without detailed, crisp visuals is basically useless. Thankfully, you won’t have to worry about that with the Huion Kamvas Pro 16. It offers outstanding visuals that allow for immersive viewing. This is thanks to the 15.6-inch full-laminated screen and anti-glare glass, which is its biggest selling point. The graphics drawing monitor also contains a smooth but slight texture, which feels great while drawing. Additionally, this pen display offers brilliant colors with 120% sRGB (92% AdobeRGB) color gamut volume (16.7 million 8-bit). The 1000:1 contrast ratio shows shadow details clearer and sharper, providing you with a vibrant and true-to-life color experience.
Now that we’ve established how well it can draw, how does it fit in with your creative process? The Huion Kamvas Pro 16 includes six customized express keys and a touch bar, allowing you to access your favorite shortcuts, keywords, or mouse operations. With this, you can easily zoom in and out, adjust brush size, and save time and keystrokes. The adjustable stand ST200 also helps to reduce tension in your neck, shoulders, and back, providing you with the best viewing angle for drawing and typing.
Aside from the tablet’s the display, the most important part of a drawing tablet is its stylus. Without it, you’ve got nothing to draw with. The Huion Kamvas Pro 16 comes with a pen, so you won’t have to buy one separately. To be fair, most drawing tablets do, but it’s still a plus.
So, how does the pen perform? I’ve found that it performs pretty well. It provides accurate and responsive performance, 60° tilt recognition, and virtually lag-free tracking. The pen is also without a battery, making it a lot more convenient. It does more than that, though. This pen is more advanced than its competitors. It contains two side buttons that can be programmable to the software’s shortcuts, making it easier to access your favorite tools.
Chances are, you’ve got a box or a drawer with a bunch of random wires and cables in it. At this point, you’re probably not looking to add to it. Fortunately, the Huion Kamvas Pro 16 minimizes the amount of wires needed to operate. It can be easily connected with the 3-in-1 USB-C cable (HDMI signal), freeing you from messy wire bundles and supporting connections for multiple purposes. This makes it that much more convenient and tidy.
Now that we’ve covered the hardware, what about the software? It’s compatible with a variety of operating systems. More specifically, it works well with Windows 7 or later, macOS 10.12 or later, and Linux (Ubuntu) and has good compatibility with creative software like Adobe Photoshop, Clip Studio Paint, SAI, Lightroom, etc.
The Huion Kamvas Pro 16 is a great purchase for amateur hobby artists. If you’re looking for the best tool possible within a reasonable price range, then this is it. With this graphics tablet, you can enjoy a great drawing experience that allows you to create better art. We should note that there was a big line wobble issue, though that’s since been fixed with a firmware update. Additionally, the digital painting experience is smooth and efficient, making it easier to create your art and experiment with different mediums.
Overall, the Huion Kamvas Pro 16 Graphics Drawing Tablet is an excellent product for beginners and hobby artists. That doesn’t mean it’s without its issues, however. The stand quality is subpar — t only supports the tablet at around four of the seven height options. Still, the pen stand is pretty sturdy, which makes up for it. Regardless of these issues (which are easily remedied, in most cases), I would definitely recommend this product to anyone looking for an affordable, quality drawing tablet.
Question: How much does the Huion Kamvas Pro 16 drawing tablet cost?
Answer: At the time of this writing, this tablet goes for $299.98, though the list price is $399.99. However, that’s for the 15.6 inch tablets. The price lowers as the size lowers. For example, the list price for the 11.6 inch tablet is $249.99. If you’re unsatisfied with the product, then you can get a refund or a replacement within 30 days of your purchase. They also offer different protection plans, the prices of which differ depending on the size of the tablet.
Question: Should I buy a drawing tablet if I don’t know how to draw?
Answer: A drawing tablet, regardless of the price, is going to be a big investment. You don’t necessarily need to be an artist before buying one, but you should be committed to learning how to draw.
Question: Is this tablet portable?
Answer: While the tablet is not truly portable as it requires a computer and wall outlet, it is relatively lightweight and easy to hold and move, making it somewhat portable.
