As a special tribute to the great Craig Sager and his fight with leukemia, Nike released a specialized pair of Jordan 1s inspired by the legendary sports broadcaster.
The entire sports world has been rooting for legendary sports broadcaster Craig Sager since he was diagnosed with leukemia back in 2014. Even sports apparel giant Nike is pulling for Sager, and unveiled a special project in honor of the 65-year-old.
Last week, hip-hop producer and Snapchat guru DJ Khaled tweeted out a picture of a pair of custom Jordan 1s. These weren’t any norma pair of sneakers, either. Instead, they were a pair of specialized Jordans that were clearly inspired by Sager, featuring all kinds of colors and patterns. The bottom of the shoes even say “Sager Vision”.
Apparently only two pairs of these specialized Jordans exist right now, with the other pair more than likely belonging to Sager (although we cannot confirm that). You can check them out via DJ Khaled’s Instagram post below.
Sager is continuing to battle his leukemia, which he has been getting treatment on for the past two years or so. While Sager was able to return to the sideline of NBA games this season when he announced he was in remission, the leukemia returned. Sager still showed up to call the NBA players, but treatment prevented him from working his first ever Olympic games this year.
These shoes are a nice gesture from Nike, and like everyone else in the world, we’ll be rooting for Sager to make another comeback after this latest setback on his road to recovery.
