Amazon Prime Day is tomorrow, but Walmart isn’t waiting to try and get the one-up on their rival.
Tomorrow is Amazon Prime Day, a day in which we celebrate two-day shipping and exclusive deals that are supposedly going to be better than Back Friday. Last year’s Amazon Prime Day wasn’t the massive deal-gasm with thought it was going to be, but our hopes are high for the second annual celebration.
But with Amazon dominating the market so much and consuming so much of our business, it’s not something that is being lost on rivals of Amazon. Specifically, Walmart is coming into Amazon Prime Day locked and loaded to compete and get some of the market back.
While it’s not a door buster of a deal, Walmart is coincidentally offering free shipping on any and all items for a ‘limited time’ only.
The chain store announced the new deal with a video, which is basically a direct response to Amazon Prime Day.
It’s not a coincidence, and it’s a wonderful thing that this is happening.
We’ve seen Amazon take the lead on certain things and then create market competition that benefits the consumer and this is the latest example of this. The popularity of Amazon and the allure of their low prices and easy shipping methods aren’t lost on competitors like Walmart, and we as deal hunters can only hope that this means more and more leveling of the playing field with others outlets.
