Is Samsung recalling Galaxy Note 7 ahead of iPhone 7 release?

Is Samsung recalling the Galaxy Note 7, just days ahead of the release of the iPhone 7 by rival Apple?

We are just days away from the reveal and release of the Apple iPhone 7. Needless to say, the world is awaiting the next big mobile device on the market — including Samsung. The biggest rival to Apple is Samsung, and right now is not a good time to be an Android user.

Sure, you might not have been exposed to a potentially horrible security breach but you’re behind the eight ball, market-wise. It’s going to be all Apple all week long wit the release of the iPhone 7, and to add to the stress, Samsung is reeling with recalls.

The official word from Samsung is that the Galaxy Note 7 isn’t being recalled. Samsung is instituting an ‘exchange’ program where you can bring in your faulty Galaxy Note 7 and get a brand new one.

That sounds like a recall all the way through. Samsung will swear up and down that it’s not but this is textbook recall protocol. The only difference is that Samsung won’t have to deal wit the  U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission, which is standard practice when a product is recalled.

This is sort of political, but it’s shady. If you’re an Apple user who is ferociously anti-Droid, then this is going to make Android users an easy target. Samsung isn’t the first company to do this shady total non-recall and they won’t be the last. It’s a reputation hit regardless but they’re abel to shy away from a total recall situation and are coming out on the other end only partially scathed.
