Adidas wants to tailor their new fitness technology to each user

Everyone has different fitness regimes, and Adidas wants to tailor their new fitness technology to best suit all types of fitness goals.

In 2015 Adidas acquired the running app Runtastic, and according to Engadget Adidas recently made the decision to shut-down their fitness platform, MiCoach. The decision was made in order to focus on Runtastic and combine the users onto one platform.

Now Adidas wants to work with third-parties to make the fitness experience the best it can be for each user. In an interview with Engadget, the Head of Digital Sports for Adidas said they are looking to enable usability across many different devices:

You’ll be seeing that we’ll be opening up a bunch of our content and know-how to other third party devices, and [making] it more of an open platform scenario so that we can extend onto other people’s devices as well.

What kind of technology Adidas is working on isn’t something we know yet, but it seems that it could be coming soon. With a technology that can be used by a lot of different people, and not just an Adidas-only platform. Every person has different fitness requirements, and being able to tailor the technology to each person makes it a lot more inclusive.

It will be interesting to see what Adidas has in mind for their new technology, perhaps a fitness watch similar to Fitbit. As more and more companies get into the fitness market, they will all have to keep themselves relevant without doing the same thing as everyone else.

With a loyal fan-base like Adidas has, it seems like they will get behind whatever new technology they come up with.
