Dunkin’ Donuts is getting rid of their cold brew coffee anytime soon.
The summer is coming to an end, which means the cold brew coffee craze could be dying down. Then again, hipsters always get what they want and this summer that has proven to be cold brewed coffee.
Coffee shops were initially a craze just because coffee shops were “in”, but the stakes needed to be raised. While Pumpkin Spice Latte’s can only be served seasonally, coffee snobs needed something else to get wild about.
That ended up being cold brewed coffee.
Starbucks got on the trend first, but Dunkin’ Donuts wasn’t far behind. Not known for their coffee over their donuts, the shop is trying to keep up with the trends and stay right behind Starbucks as the second-best coffee option in most metropolitan hipster areas.
According to Bloomberg, Dunkin’ Donuts isn’t going to be getting rid of the cold brew, because it’s what everyone seems to want.
You can’t really fault Dunkin’ Donuts for not getting off the hype train. The shop needs to become a hotter commodity, as not only are there the Starbucks of the world to keep up with but also local shops that are popping up in hipster neighborhoods. That’s competition that can be intimidating, but Dunkin’ Donuts is adapting better than we might have expected.
So if you’re looking for a cold brew and a short line, Dunkin’ Donuts is going to deliver for the time being.
