Force Friday is here, but when will stores close and thus end the day of Star Wars and Lego pillaging?
Two years ago, when The Force Awakens hit theaters, the build up was unlike anything we had ever seen. Even the lead up to the release of The Phantom Menace in 1999 wasn’t as gigantic, mainly because the utter failure of that film raised the bar so high for The Force Awakens.
Nevertheless, in both instances, we saw a merchandising blitz of Star Wars tie-in products that fans just had to get their hands on. It was dubbed Force Friday in 2015; the first Friday that merchandise for the upcoming film was officially on sale.
Naturally, you might be wondering when stores open and close so that you don’t miss out on being the first to get your hands on these items. FOMO is a powerful agent and mixed with Star Wars it reaches maximum potency.
While it seems like the smart thing to do, Walmart will not have adjusted store hours on Force Friday. So if you were hoping to utilize your Black Friday shopping skills, you’ll need to save those for later.
Stores won’t be closing any different than when they normally do. This means if you want to get something on this Force Friday, you’re going to have to find a way to work it into your commute home — assuming you weren’t up early pillaging your local chain store.
Walmart, Target and Toys R Us are operating on normal business hours. If you missed out, however, be mindful of the Labor Day sale rush on Monday that could end up bailing you out. Force Friday is Black Friday for Star Wars fans, but the merch will continue to be on store shelve throughout the holiday season.
So don’t beat yourself up too much if you missed out. Before you know it, October 1st and that giant UCS Millennium Falcon will be here, and then Black Friday will give you all the deals you want.
