Is McDonald’s partnering with Pokemon Go?

Is McDonald’s trying to cash in on the Pokemon Go fad?

It seems that Pokemon Go hasn’t yet hit its fever pitch, as hype about the game continues to grow on the heels of the app fully going viral over this past weekend. But while the game is insanely popular, all good things end in a sellout.

A clever Reddit user noticed that uninitiated code for Pokemon Go contained the words ‘MCDONALDS’, which seems to suggest that there could be some sort of partnership on the horizon.

Advertising is how the world gets paid, and it’s not surprising that McDonald’s and Pokemon Go would make natural allies in the world.

We also know that Pokemon Go is looking at sponsored locations in the game, and this would open the door to partnerships with places like McDonald’s. The idea of going to McDonalds — were all of us go anyways — and adding the incentive of getting Pokemon Go boosts with your purchase makes too much sense for it to not happen.

We’ll keep an eye on this but it seems Pokemon Go isn’t going anywhere anytime soon.
