Have you seen these Lego trailers for 2017’s most anticipated movies?
The release of a new Lego trailer is one of the great crossover joys of the Lego fandom. Superhero movies, with their pre-existing relationship to the brand (and hence, sets and minifigs), are particularly fruitful source material. But that’s never stopped an enterprising Lego fan from recreating the trailer of their choice.
2017 has already seen an excellent array of trailers turned into mini-masterpieces with incredible attention to shot-for-shot and soundtrack detail.
In no particular order, here are five of our favorites.
5. Alien: Covenant
The latest installment in the hit-or-miss Alien franchise arrives May 19 and tells the tale of a crew of colonizing couples who happen on a would-be paradise and current home to David, the “synthetic survivor” of the Prometheus mission. Chaos, horror and hijinks ensue. The LEGO trailer faithfully recreates the film’s trailer – complete with floating alien particles and rain, not to mention face-hugging monsters.

4. The Belko Experiment
You wouldn’t necessarily think a red-band trailer for a film described as a cross between Office Space and Battle Royale would be a good Lego adaptation, but you would be wrong. Somehow, this nuts, head-exploding, murderous lock-down jaunt is extremely entertaining in Lego form. In fact, you might be set just watching this – it’s absolutely going to be less stomach-churning than the actual feature.
In what may be the most exceptionally niche Easter egg of all time, Michael Rooker, seen in The Belko Experiment trailer as a maintenance worker with a blow torch, is portrayed by a blue minifig. This could be reference to the fact if you Google Rooker, you immediately see photos of him as the blue Yondu Udonta in the Guardians of the Galaxy films. If that’s not the reason, it could be literally anything.
Speaking of which…
3. Guardians of the Galaxy, Vol. 2
Of course, the sequel to the super successful Guardians of the Galaxy got a Lego trailer, too. In fact, the GOTG 2 Lego trailer even caught the eye and was subsequently shared by the good folks at Lego themselves. And understandably so, it’s very fun and full of delightful detail. Though as cute as the Groot minifig is, we can’t help but we reminded of this extraordinary Groot build.

2. Logan
There is something truly amazing about watching an angsty LEGO Wolverine stalk around, drink and emote to the tones of Johnny Cash’s “Hurt” cover.
The hair pieces – which it’s worth repeating are all hand-sculpted – are something else entirely. There’s also a fair amount of blood and scarring adhesives, which are interesting if not the most effective Lego-blood style choice on this list.
Come for the miniature angst, stay for the Lego claws.
1. Star Wars: The Last Jedi
As previously detailed, the latest Star Wars Lego trailer, for Episode VIII: The Last Jedi, is a perfect recreation of an already-tantalizing trailer. Lego and Star Wars is one of the most powerful fan combos in the game so it’s no surprise the Lego trailer is so expertly done.
Bonus: The Fate of the Furious
The Fast and the Furious franchise is objectively fun. The Fast and the Furious family as Lego in a teaser for the eighth film is too.
