Be happy your car isn’t made out of Lego (Video)

Someone decided to perform a crash test on a Lego Porsche and the results were both not so bad and strangely hypnotizing.

Be happy your car isn’t made out of Lego. That’s a seemingly stupid statement, since it’s generally accepted that steel is going to be stronger than Lego when it comes to keeping your automobile held together and (for the most part) protected.

Just how much safer is your car, though?

That’s the question a the ADA, which is the car crash regulation team in Germany, asked and tried to solve. The group behind crash testing German and European cars decided to put together a Lego Porsche set in order to see how it held up in a crash.

Looking at the video would imply that the test was an utter failure, thus proving that we’re building cars the right way at the moment.

The team behind the test wasn’t so glib about the results:

“The result was impressive and different than expected. The chassis of the car had no problems with the high speed, and there were very little damaged stones on impact. It was almost exclusively the click connections between the components.”

Basically they’re saying that while the car was pretty much destroyed, it wasn’t completely.

This isn’t to say we should start building cars out of Lego. We’re doing it the right way now. Lego cars are a cool idea but a stupid one.

    Just watch that video.

That being said, it seems that Lego are stronger than we’re willing to give them credit for. You son’t need to be overly convincing of that fact to anyone who has ever stepped on a Lego in their lie, though.
