Beware of an email supposedly from Apple asking to verify your security information on your Netflix account.
We live in an age of Nigerian prince’s and stranded billionaires who need you to transfer them money so they can make you rich. It’s the most infamous email scam out there, but dopey people still fall for it.
But even though we’re all privy to the scam of the Nigerian prince, there are new ways that scumbags are using to try and dupe unsuspecting people into getting scammed. So be wary if you see anything in your email from Netflix and Apple.
The scam involves an email coming supposedly from Apple asking to have access to your Netflix and Apple accounts to verify a security error.
In fact, I got one of those emails just this morning:
Don’t click that ‘Verify Now’ link, it’s a shame.
The email is disguised as ‘Apple Security’, but if you actually click on the email name then you’ll see it revealed as fraudulent. It’s a scam and you’d better not fall for it or it’s going to end well for you.
Netflix and Apple are apparently aware of the scam but there’s really nothing they can do about it other than advise you to not get duped. People are going to fall for it, inevitably, but now you’re aware and need to be vigilant.
