Target is in direct competition with a lot of other retailers, but they are looking to try something new to streamline the experience for people in a hurry.
The new concept store will be one location in Texas, and if it goes well, the design and concept may expand to other regions. According to Fox News, if the concept store in Richmond works well, it will be the basis for 100’s of other Target locations.
The new layout
In a Press Release from Target, they have outlined the new design for their store. With two different entrances, one will be like most other Target entrances, but the second will allow for fast access to things that people may need to grab quickly.
For time-starved guests, the second entrance will offer easy access to grocery, a Wine & Beer shop, self-checkout lanes and a dedicated Order Pickup counter within steps from each other.
With a very specific design idea in mind, it seems that Target wants to be more contemporary in their decor. They’re planning big windows, and uniquely designed lighting. They also plan to make a patten into the concrete they pour for the floors.
Store design moving forward
If the pilot stores goes well, 500 other stores could be designed similarly. Target’s plan is to redesign 500 stores by 2019.
Before the big redesign in the coming years, Target also wants to update 4o other stores in the Huston area. The one store in Richmond, Texas will be brand new, and feature all the elements Target mentioned in their press release.
The newly designed store is set to open in October, and if plans go well many other stores across the country could share the same design. Then customers will be able to enjoy a quick trip to Target or a leisurely browse.
