In 2015 Amazon had the brilliant idea to boost summer sales by creating Amazon Prime Day. The company holiday is back again this year, but with supposedly even better deals.
The holiday started last year for Amazon Prime members to celebrate the 20th anniversary of the company, with deals popping out throughout the day. The event was such a success that the company sold 34.4 million products in 24 hours, dwarfing their sales on any Black Friday in the company’s history. In fact, Amazon Prime Day also had 18 percent more orders than the previous year’s Black Friday.
This year, Amazon Prime Day will take place on July 12th, with deals popping up every hour starting at 3 a.m. ET for Prime members. There was some criticism last year when the selection of products on sale seemed random with the exception of Amazon’s own products like Kindles and Fire tablets. However, deals this year are expected to include televisions and toys along with plenty of other kinds of products.
For those who don’t want to keep refreshing their internet browser to find the latest Amazon Prime Day deals on Tuesday, the Amazon App will send users notifications about deals. Those who also have Alexa will be able to use the product for updates on promotions throughout the day.
Amazon Prime continues to be one of the biggest online shopping memberships in the world because of its amazing deals and perks, which include free two-day shipping and unlimited streaming of music and movies.
After the success of last year’s Prime Day, we’re looking forward to seeing the sales numbers from Tuesday’s event.
