Apple is continuing to try and make waves in the digital media world by creating its own app to try and rival that of Snapchat.
Snapchat has quickly become one of the most disruptive digital media technologies in the industry, and everyone is trying to do what they can to copy it. Even Instagram has added a feature for their own stories to try and compete directly with Snapchat.
Now, it seems like another major tech company is going to try and compete with Snapchat. According to Mark Gurman from Bloomberg, Apple is developing a video sharing and editing app for iPhones and iPads. The app is apparently being tested with all kinds of new and related features.
Judging from what Gurman reported, the application seems like it would utilize a lot of the current features of Apple products, including messaging while being able to share on social media platforms like Facebook and Twitter. The plan for the application is to be a much easier source of video editing that can be used with just one hand, trying to differentiate it with the likes of Instagram and Snapchat.
The team that developed Final Cut Pro and iMovie are the ones who are reportedly developing this new application, which means that the product itself could feature some very similar features compared to the other two products.
Apple has mostly been focused on hardware with products like the iPhone, Macbook, iPad and others, but the company seems interested in trying to directly compete with these fast-growing tech startups like Snapchat. Only time will tell whether or not Apple will successfully be able to go toe-to-toe with other apps.
