Villanova’s Jalen Brunson and Duke’s Jayson Tatum were both spotted wearing NBA superstar Paul George and Nike’s signature PG1s during the NCAA Tournament.
There are few sneakers out there that have generated as much buzz lately as Indiana Pacers and NBA superstar Paul George’s first ever signature shoe, the PG1 from Nike. Now, the sneakers are even being spotted during the NCAA tournament.
The new PG1s were spotted on multiple players during March Madness. Two of the most prominent player seen rocking the new Nikes were Duke Blue Devils star Jayson Tatum and Villanova Wildcats guard Jalen Brunson.
Unfortunately for both of these players, their respective teams were upset in the Round of 32 of the NCAA tournament, with Villanova going down to Wisconsin and Duke getting upset by South Carolina. It’s hard to blame the shoes, but it’s definitely unfortunate for Nike and George that the sneakers won’t get more exposure deeper into the tournament.
You can check out a picture of both Tatum and Brunson rocking the PG1s below courtesy of Twitter.

It may be too bad that Duke and Villanova are already out of the tournament, but George was already back on the marketing trail on Sunday when he unveiled a new color scheme for the PG1s during warmups prior to the Indiana Pacers game against the Toronto Raptors.
For George, it’s a big deal for him to get his first ever signature shoe with Nike. There aren’t a lot of athletes who can brag about that, so I’m sure he’s not too worried about players in the NCAA tournament who wore his sneakers already heading home.
