The midterm elections have passed, but people were using LEGO pieces to encourage people to vote in the important US election.
LEGO may not have had a role in the midterm elections in the United States, as the company is from Denmark. However, the little bricks and icons from various collections appeared to make appearances on social media in the days leading up to the midterm elections on November 6 of this year.
It’s no secret that the midterm elections caused quite the uproar in the United States. The Republicans had the power in both the House and the Senate and the Democrats were hoping for a blue wave to show the Republicans that their time in power was coming to an end.
In the days leading up to the election, people started sharing pictures of LEGO figurines and creations with the “I voted” sticker. People wanted others to know that they had voted, and possibly tried to encourage others to vote.

This was a creative effort to get people out to vote. For years, many people seemed to think that politics was just for older people, but these LEGO pictures are encouraging younger people to get out and vote.
Usually, younger people are more attracted to products and pictures that suit their interests, including Star Wars and Harry Potter. But if LEGO can help encourage a conversation about politics to ensure that more people get to the voting polls, it’s a good thing. The company hasn’t talked about the role that they may have played in getting young people to vote, but using this common interest to talk about rough issues can only be celebrated.
One has to wonder if LEGO pieces and posts will play a role in the Presidential Election coming up in two years.
