Pokemon GO does tell you that you need to walk to hatch Eggs, but for the creative types, there’s a way to do it without going outside at all.
As previously reported, users who own a turntable can balance their phones on the edge, then set the thing to spinning. Don’t go too fast, lest you trigger the game’s speed cap, but fast enough so that it tricks your phone into thinking that it’s moving. Don’t worry if your phone doesn’t immediately think it’s being walked. The game’s GPS tracking has had some noticeable issues while playing indoors.
It’ll still take a while for a 10 km Egg to hatch, so have your phone fully charged and use the battery saver mode while you’re doing this. Also, stay close to your phone to listen for that telltale vibration of an Egg hatching in the game.
The same idea allows you to use a ceiling fan as well, if you’re feeling brave or don’t actually own a turntable.
Reportedly, slowly skateboarding or biking also does the trick, but it’s a little harder to control your speed so that you’re going fast enough to stay moving but slow enough for the game to think you’re still walking. Driving is a complete no-go now, unless you frequently stop or drive slowly.
