16. Duke Basketball (2005 to 2006)
This is the uniform which made the Duke Blue Devils the biggest heels in college basketball. Of course, having one of the most hatable players of all time in J.J. Redick helped. But the huge uniform change solidified them as the basketball team everyone loves to hate.
Before the 2005-06 college basketball season, Duke wore blue and white jerseys. They were bland an unexciting. However, Nike decided to add some flair to their blue jersey, adding some black to it. The end result? Only one of the best college basketball uniforms of all-time.
The shoulder stripe was innovative. Not many teams wore shoulder stripes before Duke. But after seeing how sleek it looked with the Blue Devils, teams immediately jumped on the bandwagon. The stripes continue all the way down the torso and the shorts, giving a modern look to a very classic uniform. Also, the black stripes were given a white outline, giving it a very nice ascent.
This change was huge because it was so different from anything Duke had done before. They had very classic and simple uniforms before they went bold. This change represented a new era for college basketball jerseys. Gone were the days of the simple white and tar heel blue uniforms ruling the world. Now just about every team wears a jersey with a stripe or adjustment of some kind. Nike forever changed college basketball jerseys with their now infamous switch to black for Duke.
The Blue Devils went on to change up their jerseys shortly after, but none of them have been as good as this one.
