7. Michigan Wolverines
Nike finally make their stake, sponsoring the Michigan Wolverines starting in the 2016 season. Before, they were sponsored by Adidas. Under them, the Wolverines had pretty good jerseys, but something was missing. Nike immediately put them near the top of the college football jersey game with some amazing changes.
First of all, just look at the color scheme. It’s hard to hate on the maize and blue look. The blue and yellow complement each other perfectly. Maize serves as an excellent background while the maize pops off the maize background. Nike kept it very simple with the jersey design. No fancy stripes for the top or pants because they were already great. The sleeves have numbers on them, which is different, but very cool.
Secondly, the logos are great. I’m a fan of the Big 10 logo. But the Air Jordan jump-man logo? Heck yes. Maybe it’s because I grew up in the 90’s, but it’s easily one of the coolest and most recognizable logos in the world. It’s a heck of a lot cooler than the swoosh mark.
Of course, the best part of the Wolverines uniforms is the helmet. Michigan might have the best helmets in college football. It features a dark blue background, matching the tops. There are a lot of designs in gold, which look awesome. It appears complex, but really, it’s just a few stripes and a fancy thing in the front. There’s a Michigan logo in the front as well. Nike put the Wolverines back near the top of the college football uniform game.
