29. Buffalo Bills Color Rush (2016)
After Nike became the exclusive sponsor for NFL jerseys, they came up with color rush uniforms. This is just another excuse for the company to make more money. But it also gave an opportunity to try out some unique color schemes. Most of them are either terrific or make you want to cut out your eyeballs. A great example of the former are the Buffalo Bills.
The all red look is terrific. Buffalo’s shade of red is great and works well as a primary color. Likewise, white also works well as a stripe color and secondary scheme. However, what makes this look so attractive is the blue. It complements the red and the white perfectly and makes the strikes pop.
This jersey gets some points docked off because it’s hard for color blind people to enjoy the uniform. Moreover, there was the infamous controversy of people not being able to tell the difference between the Bills and Jets when they wore their red and green jerseys respectively. Still, this gives what is usually a very good color scheme a huge lift.
The blue is pretty nice, but the red simply doesn’t work as a secondary color. This is largely because red doesn’t pop off on blue like the reverse does. Buffalo’s red deserves to be a primary color. Thank you Nike for giving the fans what they want. Most of their color scheme outfits haven’t worked, but it worked well for the Bills. Unfortunately, the team isn’t as good looking on the field as their jerseys are.
