30 tips and hacks to never paying full price on Amazon again

Starting January 22, the cost of mailing a one-ounce first-class letter will return to being 49 cents, up from 47 cents, where it had been since April. 3. Get a shipping refund if your delivery arrives late

This one is not going to apply to Amazon Prime members. That’s because they have free shipping anyway. Sometimes, items can arrive later than that two day delivery Prime members always expect. But don’t expect to get paid for getting it late, as you didn’t have to pay for that shipping in the first place.

For those without Prime and paying shipping prices, however, the story is a little different. Because you’re forking over money for the shipping, regardless of which method you chose, you’re expecting it by a certain date. If the package gets held up in the mail or is late being shipped out, then you aren’t getting what you paid for. So if you contact Amazon and tell them that your package was late and you want a refund for the shipping, they will grant your request.

Don’t get greedy and demand a refund for the entire cost of the item. And be polite, as a late package could be something that occurs doing shipping and isn’t their fault either. But they will still work with you and refund the shipping costs if your package arrives much later than what the estimate was saying. They’ll be tracking the packages, so they’ll know if it was delivered. Which means that you need to wait until you receive the item first before asking for the shipping refund.

Instead of a refund, you can also opt for a one month extension of your Amazon Prime benefits.
