7. Amazon just might refund you if your package is stolen
Anyone who has had a package stolen while in the mail or straight from their doorstep knows how terrible the feeling is. You have to figure out that the package has been taken, even though the seller assures it is shipped. Unfortunately, many times, the buyer is unable to really do too much about it. They are at the mercy of the seller as to whether there will be a refund or exchange, and many places do not offer such a thing, claiming to not be responsible for theft.
While Amazon doesn’t have a policy printed online regarding stolen packages, their customer service is very understanding. There are people on the internet with stories about getting refunded by Amazon after having their packages stolen. It’s still a frustrating thing to have to deal with, but getting your money back at least soothes things over so you can get another if you want and move on from the situation.
But don’t be getting any sinister ideas, here. You definitely can’t try this with everything you buy. This can only be done with items shipped straight from Amazon, and they’re going to want the tracking information. They will also have a complete order history from you and will know if you have made similar claims before. So don’t expect this to be something you can do with every order you make from the website. But if this unfortunate scenario does befall you, explain your case to Amazon and they may give you a break.
