Florida Beer Company is Florida’s largest craft brewery. Located in Melbourne, Florida, the brewery is just minutes from Port Canaveral. If you are looking for a pre or post cruise beer, the Florida Beer Company tap room is a perfect stop. With year round beers, seasonal offerings and even some ciders, the Florida Beer Tap room embraces the overall Florida lifestyle.

Florida Beer Company creates beers that reflect Florida life. From the flagship Florida Lager to the seasonal Conch-toberfest, a cold one conjures up the ocean breeze and crashing waves. The company touts the line, In Florida, Drink Florida. With so many delicious beers in its line, it is hard to argue this philosophy.

While I would encourage any visitor to Florida to try several Florida Beer Company beers, my personal favorite is Swamp Ape IPA. This American Double or Imperial IPA is strong beer. It isn’t meant to have several bottles over a lazy afternoon. The 10% ABV denotes this beer as a sipping beer.

Usually served in a sniffer, the caramel color and slightly sweet notes are typical with this type of IPA. Since it is a Florida Beer Company beer, the beer offers some underlying citrus notes. For someone who enjoys just one beer, while your friends enjoy many, this beer is a good option. Truthfully, it is best enjoyed from the tap.
