    4. Save even more on textbooks by renting them from Amazon

We have already pointed out that the costs of textbooks for college courses are astronomical. Buying used textbooks from Amazon is a great way to circumvent that. And as we mentioned, buying them from foreign Amazon markets could save you even more. But on top of all that, there’s an even better way to save when it comes to college textbooks.

Amazon also offers rentals for college textbooks. You might find this to be a much greater option than outright buying them, even if they are used. If you’re only going to be using some of these books for just one class, is there any financial sense in keeping them? You can just rent them for the course of your class, and once that’s up, you can simply return them. And this is a likely way to save the most money on those textbooks.

According to Amazon, you can save up to 87% by choosing to rent textbooks. When you rent one, the quality of the book will vary, based on availability. But it doesn’t need to be pristine if you’re not keeping it anyway. Use it to complete all of your college coursework, and then when you’re done with it, you can send it back with free return shipping. Of course, you’re going to want to keep an eye on the return date, as passing the date will net you a charge to extend the due date.
