Oregon: Rogue Ales, Brutal IPA
The Oregon beer revolution is led by Rogues Ales. With this brewery, expect the unexpected. The beers that it produces are unconventional and unapologetic. It is the way the founders intended and it is the way that they will continue.
According to Rogue’s mission statement, the brewery presents finished works that are “a touch of educational, entertaining mischief.” Over the past couple of years, Rogue has been in the new for its unusual creations. A donut beer in collaboration with Voodoo Donuts made a big splash.
Even though this brewery pushes the envelope, its normal, if you can call any of their beers “normal” beers are quite enjoyable. The company offers a variety of ales, stouts and even a pilsner. Which one of the many Rogue beers should you try? How about Brutal IPA.
Instead of going completely off the rails with one of its unusual Rogue brews, the Brutal IPA is a good introduction to the company’s unique ways. This non-traditional Indian Pale Ale has big, bold hoppy aromas. With some citrus, the beer doesn’t have too much bitterness when drinking it. The Brutal IPA is well served with some wild caught salmon.
Next time you are ready to venture the untraveled path try a Rogue beer. Embrace the different.
