North Dakota: Fargo Brewing Company fargobrewing.com
The heartland needed some inspiration to its beer scene. A quick tour of the state’s tourism website show that North Dakota offers a North Dakota beer trail. While the list might not be as long as other states, the North Dakota breweries offer great variety.
One characteristic of all the North Dakota breweries on the North Dakota beer trail is that they use local ingredients. From local honey to even local flowers, the area’s produce adds a unique quality to these beers.
One North Dakota brewery to try is Fargo Brewing Company. A group of Fargo natives dreamed up the idea of becoming brew masters. With a good work ethic and lots of determination, Fargo Brewing Company opened its doors. But, these guys don’t take beer too serious either. As their website says, “it’s just beer, chief. Bottoms up.”
Since North Dakota is just joining the craft beer movement, a good Fargo Brewing Company beer to try is the Stone’s Throw Scottish Ale. A Scottish Ale is darker in color but lower in hops. For the casual beer drinker, these beers have less bit that big, hoppy beers.
The Stone’s Throw Scottish Ale offers honey tasting to add some sweetness to the beer. Overall the beer is quite smooth and drinkable. Grab a rock, skip a stone and enjoy this drinkable beer.
