Oklahoma: Prairie Artisan Ales, Standard Hoppy Farmhouse Ale
Oklahoma sometimes is overlooked. Sitting above its big, loud neighbor to the South, Texas, the oil rich state may not make a huge impression. But one beer company is making its mark on the beer industry. That company is Prairie Artisan Ales.
Prairie Artisan Ales can be found in 25 states and five countries. These inspiring beers are great additions to both the year round and seasonal markets. Like the company’s name suggests, these beers are more in a farmhouse style.
A farmhouse ale is also called a saison. Generally, a Belgium style beer, a farmhouse beer often has a lot of carbonation. Also, the beer is fruity and caramel in color. The beer style got its name from how the beer was brewed. To be ready for the summer drinking months, the beer was stored in cool farmhouses during the winter months. The resulting beer is a great thirst quencher on a hot day.
The Prairie Artisan Ales Standard Hoppy Farmhouse Ale is considered an every day beer. No big bold flavors or bitey hops overpower this drinking beer. The brewery says that the beer has a “New Zealand hop with a spicy lime flavor.”
The lime notes in this beer pair well with spicy foods or even Mexican foods. A slow smoked barbecue could also bring out the bright flavors in the beer. This type of beer is great for a party or just to cool off after a long, hot day.
Prairie Artisan Ales Standard Hoppy Farmhouse Ale is widely available.
