Craft beer is gaining popularity in Japan, much like it has in the U.S. and Europe. The four beverage giants — Asahi Group Holdings Ltd., Kirin Holdings Co., Suntory Holdings Ltd. and Sapporo Holdings Ltd. — are experimenting with alternative brews too as they face a slide in consumption. Colorado: Boulder Beer Company, Shake Chocolate Porter

Boulder Beer Company is known for its bolder beers. Colorado’s first craft brewery obtained the 43rd brewing license in the United States. The brewery has a creative spirit. Its inspired brews invoke a cheeky humor with sophisticated flavor combinations.

In addition to the brewery’s award winning beers, the company is committed to being environmentally responsible and civic minded. The company offers recyclable containers, non-petroleum based products and repurposes bio-diesel fuel. Additionally, every year the brewery participates in “Beer 4 Boobs.” This charity event raises money for the Susan G Komen Breast Cancer Foundation.

Boulder Beer Company first made a name for itself with its Hazed Hoppy Session Ale. A blend of four different hops created a very unique amber ale. The aroma of this complex beer will leave you a little clouded over.

For a totally different, bolder choice, try Boulder Beer Company’s Shake Chocolate Porter. This award winning dark beer is quite nuanced with a full bodied twist. Like many of the company’s beers, this porter blends five different grains.

According to the Boulder Beer Company, the ”Shake Chocolate Porter is dark black in color with rich, sweet aromatics and flavors of dark chocolate, coffee and caramel.” Sit back, pour this porter and relax into the moment. It is a perfect way to end a meal or a long week. With chocolate nib and coffee flavors make it a wonderful alternative dessert option.

Boulder Beer Company Shake Chocolate Porter has a 5.9% ABV and is available at various retailers.
