28. Calculating CP for Evolution
CP is one of the biggest factors in evaluating a Pokemon’s strength in the game. Granted, each individual Pokemon species has its own maximum potential, which has been kindly calculated by GamePress on their own Pokemon GO wiki. According to the list, Pokemon like Mewtwo, Dragonite, and Snorlax have some of the highest maximum CP values.
On top of that, fans have put together a calculator that will tell you the results of evolving a Pokemon. By plugging in the species and the CP of your potential Pokemon, the calculator will spit out the results of the evolution. For example, an Eevee with a CP of 500 will evolve into a Vaporeon with 1315-1365 CP.
The same site has also put together a Reverse Calculator. By picking the evolution of your choice and putting in your ideal CP, you can determine how much you need to power up and train your current Pokemon. In the linked example, an Arcanine with a CP of 2140 requires a Growlithe with a CP from 907-943.
If you’re looking to efficiently level your Pokemon up and determine your best use of resources, this is one of the best tools out there right now. Stardust and candies are not always easy to come by, and if a Pokemon needs too much powering up before they can even be evolved, then that’s just too much of a resource sink to be efficient.
